TAMWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL
GROWTH & REGENERATION
Planning Policy and Delivery Officer
£27,741- £32,234 per annum
plus essential car user allowance
37 hours per week
Permanent contract
At just 12 square miles, Tamworth is a small borough with big aspirations. Having recently been awarded £21.65 million of Future High Streets funding, the Council is embarking on an ambitious regeneration scheme that includes a number of diverse projects which will have a transformational effect on the town centre and the wider borough.
The current local plan was adopted in early 2016 and has been key to promoting development and growth within the borough including the delivery of a number of sustainable urban extensions. However, a recent review concluded that it would be appropriate to start work on a new plan, and we are currently at the beginning of that process.
Working as part of a small team, you will be required to assist in the delivery of a new local plan for Tamworth including the collection of a comprehensive evidence base, developing policies, and carrying out public consultations. Alongside this, you will be able to contribute towards the wider regeneration projects as well as providing advice to developers, members of the public, and other Council teams.
The ideal candidate would already have experience of working in a planning policy environment, however the role would also provide an excellent opportunity for someone with a relevant degree and/or experience of a related field who is looking to move into planning.
The authority offers an excellent employment package with flexible working, a non-contributory health scheme, Local Government pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement.
Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work in the UK check and medical clearance.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Richard Powell, Planning Policy and Delivery Team Leader on 07583 060 738.

Closing date: 20th June 2021
Late applications and/or CVs will not be accepted. Agencies need not apply. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community. This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks required for relevant posts.
