This is such an exciting time to join the team as we embark on a journey to create a whole host of different work streams, tackling many of the council’s high priority areas.

Building on some existing skills support services, the team will work to develop and deliver a range of programmes, projects and campaigns to meet business and employment needs, one of the key deliverables we feel will allow us to maintain a strong economy with a well skilled population.

The team will offer a number of support services, primarily supporting businesses, gathering economic needs, whilst also supporting in the creation of career opportunities linking to employment, education and skills partners. The team engage widely with a number of external partners and stakeholders who we collaborate with to widen our reach.

About the Role

 

The Careers and Employability Programme Manager is a new post within the Employability and Skills team and will play an important role in a number of the councils high priority areas, including the valuable contribution to our Covid-19 recovery plans and how we support those who are most negatively affected by the pandemic.

The post is designed to take a leadership role in a broad range of careers and employment activities. Creating, shaping and delivering innovative programmes which build upon Warwickshire’s already high standard of careers and employment activity is key. Our activity will be highly engaging and must demonstrate the impact in developing a well skilled population to meet the economic needs of Warwickshire.

Managing multiple funding streams such as the counties own Skills for Employment fund amongst other internal and external funded contracts, the post holder will work collaboratively with education colleagues and our teams project officers to deliver strong and effective outputs. 

Amongst other priorities the post holder would actively create steering groups, engage with partners, stand up programme boards and commission suppliers. The post is likely to evolve to remain relevant and effective which is visible across all corners of our team, this means no two days are the same and that’s just how we like it.

Key Skills and Experiences

Our ideal candidate would be a highly experienced programme manager with over 3 years experience. They must have a broad understanding of local Careers and Employability initiatives, with previous experience of working on multiple projects and collaborating at a strategic level. It is essential to have a proven track record of programme management and monitoring outputs as this role will command drawing on previous experiences from the start.
