Shared Lives Carers
Are you looking for a new challenge and positive opportunities as part of a continuing career? Has COVID made it difficult for you to retain your job or have you just exited the health or care sector but still feel you have so much more to give in terms of supporting and caring for people?
Do you have an aspiration to support people of all age who may require good role models and opportunities to either live with or be supported by a caring and forward thinking family led by you as a self-employed paid carer?
If so and you know you are a forward thinking, creative and nurturing individual then please read on - this opportunity is most definitely something for you to explore further.
We are looking for new professional and caring individuals to join our Shared lives service to provide individuals with a range of needs, from the age of 14 upwards, the opportunity to develop daily living skills, confidence and new opportunities to be part of a community inclusive world. They will be supported to either live in the home of the shared lives carer along with the carer’s family, or be supported to access real opportunities within the local community supported by the carer, as part of short breaks or meaningful daytime opportunities.
People of all ages need a good start in life and Shared Lives Carers are able to be part of that journey with the vulnerable people Carers support–often preparing the person to move on into their own accommodation or to overcome issues that may be preventing them from developing confidence and skills to live a safe and fulfilled life.
Shared Lives offers daytime support, overnight stays and time limited live-in placements all with the aim of upskilling and promoting independence to those supported.
Shared lives offer a professional and rewarding role. This is a career opportunity for those who wish to make a difference
As a Shared lives carer you are agreeing to share your home your family time and your life experience in return for a regular income paid as a fee, ongoing training and support from the scheme co coordinators. Ultimately this role gives the carer complete job satisfaction. There are also networking opportunities with other Shared lives carers locally and across the West Midlands region.
Although not essential we would welcome interest from prospective carer’s who have ground floor facilities such a downstairs bed room and bathroom who could offer support for individuals with additional physical needs.
If you are interested in learning more about Shared Lives and the career opportunities it provides, contact Sherrie Cremin on 01922 655800 for an informal chat and the offer to Join our informal TEAMs conversation to meet the team virtually and help you to decide if this is something that you would like to progress further or understand more about .
