Following the successful introduction of our Learning Hub this year we are looking to further expand our provision. This is an exciting dual role the first part of which will provide day to day supervision and support for pupils working in the Learning Hub. The second element to this role involves the mentoring of Sixth Form students with an academic focus. The Learning Hub provision includes some lunchtime and after school sessions.  The full responsibility for the Learning Hub Mentor is set out in the job description. We are looking for a member of staff with excellent communication skills and the expertise to identify and reduce barriers to learning.

The Lead Teacher for the Learning Hub will spend 0.4 of the working week directly linked to the Hub, shaping the overall strategic priorities. The Learning Mentor role will broadly support 0.6 coverage to ensure that we can meet the needs of students linked to the Hub across the working week. The additional 0.4 of this role will be designated for Sixth Form mentoring, linking closely to the Achievement Leader team in establishing priorities, working with students and evaluating impact. The successful candidate will report to the Learning Hub Lead Teacher and liaise closely with the Achievement Leader for Year 12 & 13. The working hours will be agreed to meet the needs of the student cohort; you will need to be available to start at 8.30am and be available to finish at 4.15pm on agreed days. A working day will usually be 6.5 hours plus a break for lunch.

You will need to liaise with departments and provide structured support for students who need to continue their learning beyond the classroom. This will include support for students accessing modified timetables and students who are not in their normal timetabled lessons for a period of time. Liaising with and feeding back to ‘usual’ classroom teachers will be key. The successful candidate will promote positive learning attitudes and inclusion; liaise with staff and parents; take opportunities to continue their professional development, and carry out a range of duties to support our students’ social, emotional and academic needs.
