Friday                          6.30am – 10.00am and 2.30pm – 6.00pm

Hours:                         37 hours per week

Salary:                        Grade 8 Point 22 to 27 – (FTE £27,041 to £31,346)

Gorsemoor Primary School are seeking to appoint a reliable, professional, and practical individual to join our support staff team in the role of Site and Building Supervisor.

The post holder will be responsible for general site duties, as outlined below, alongside facilities management; contributing to strategic planning and formulating health and safety policies/risk assessments. The duties of the post are varied so the ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and a high level of flexibility is required.  The role will require practical maintenance and repair skills alongside more administrative tasks and strategic thinking.  You will need to possess strong organisational and administrative skills, together with IT and communication skills. 

The successful candidate will need to be fit and able to cope with physically challenging duties, have good communication skills and be ready to deal with a variety of situations.  Our Site and Buildings Supervisor will need to work flexibly at all times. Hours may, on occasion, vary depending upon the needs of the school and occasions may arise, when an earlier start time or later finish may be needed.  Out of hours emergency calls may also occur. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the premises and responding to emergency call outs
  • Improvement, maintenance and cleanliness of the school building and grounds.
  • Ensuring that the building and site facilities are available for school use and other users, whenever they are needed.
  • Managing health & safety and compliance of the site, developing policy and undertaking risk assessments or COSHH procedures as appropriate.

    Previous experience of site management, caretaking or security, minor maintenance work and working on a school site are desirable but are not essential, as full training will be given.  Previous training on the subject of building management and health and safety would again be desirable but is not essential.
