Human Resources Advisor

The HR Advisory team deliver a professional HR advisory service to our Warwickshire County Council customers.

The post of HR Advisor is streamlined requiring adaptability to work corporately across both the Council and the Schools Team.  Both teams deal with several different terms and conditions.  It is usual to be allocated to a team as a first point of contact within our service delivery areas enabling strong working relationships to be built with our customers.   

We are currently seeking a HR Advisor to provide advice and guidance on HR related issues, applying a solution focused, tailored, risk assessed approach.  We work as one HR with our HR & Organisational Development colleagues to ensure that our customers experience a positive journey and desired achievable outcomes.

As an experienced resilient HR professional, you will be able to support on a wide range of cases, providing clear advice while understanding and listening to your customer’s needs.  You will need to adapt quickly and positively to new demands which in return will provide you with continual learning and development experiences gained from a diverse and interesting caseload.

You will ideally have completed your Level 5 CIPD intermediate qualification.  Consideration will however be given to candidates who are working towards completion.

Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills are required as is resilience and the ability to work to tight deadlines.   You will actively need to respond to our customers HR needs who may themselves be working under pressure in a front-line challenging busy professional environment.  There will be an applied pressure to actively respond promptly to our customers’ requirements, whilst at all times maintaining composure and your professional stance.

In return you will have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to service delivery and challenges by being exposed to dealing with a full range of employment relations issues including grievance, disciplinary, absence, performance, change management and grading.

You will work with employee representatives to find workable solutions, while providing advice based on statutory employment law and HR best practice.

There will be a requirement for you to be a confident communicator using your initiative to respond independently to problems and unexpected situations when supporting our customers within your allocated areas of responsibility.

Experience of working within a local government, NHS or other public sector context would be beneficial but not essential.
