‘A District to be proud of’

Ready for your next career move? Come and join an ambitious excellent Local Authority in South Staffordshire.

South Staffordshire is a place where people choose to live because of its attractive villages, countryside, and open spaces.

As a Council we have every reason to be confident in our success.

  • Our recent LGA Peer Review reported that the leadership of the Council was “very impressive” with “strong evidence of ambition and innovation” and that the Council “was in a strong position to meet future challenges”,
  •  our Council Offices will shortly be modernised and refurbished to provide a real community hub with partner organisations, local businesses, library, doctors surgery and cafe all in one central location: and
  • our Community Services has a strong track record of commercial success and high-quality delivery across all our services which consist of Leisure, Facilities, Street Scene, Environmental Health, Waste and Recycling.

So, this is a great time to be joining a progressive Council and lead on our exciting and ambitious agenda.

The Waste and Recycling Service is one of the most prominent provided by the Council and is highly regarded by Members and residents alike: we are very proud that the latest Residents Panel survey reveals a 95% satisfaction rate. The Government issued Resources and Waste Strategy offers a long-term vision for the industry and the next few years offer great challenges but also opportunities to embed service changes to develop a more resource efficient vision, building on current high recycling rates and continuing to deliver high quality services that residents can engage with. The delivery of key services and contracts underpins this vision, and the successful candidate will join a dedicated multi-award-winning team with a desire for continuous improvement of the service that they represent.

Reporting to the Assistant Director Community Services, the postholder will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to manage contracts and service performance against recognised standards. The postholder will be actively involved with a range of workstreams, from contract and project management, service change, and leading implementation.

You will have the opportunity to make links across other Council’s using existing forums and connections, seeking, and testing new ideas for the betterment of the service.

You will have a relevant degree/professional qualification and possess excellent leadership and engagement skills as well as experience of working in local government. You will need to have strong project management and organisation skills along with previous experience of managing a team, service change, contract management and procurement exercises.

Why work for South Staffordshire Council?

We are an award-winning ambitious modern Council with a positive culture and a great benefits package including generous annual leave, flexi-time scheme, pension scheme and free car parking. We are situated next to the M54 and Bilbrook train station which provides easy access to our Council Offices in Codsall. We also have an excellent ICT kit to facilitate agile and home working and can accommodate applicants further afield or close to home.
