The Excel Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Higher Level Learning and Teaching Assistant to join our team of highly motivated professionals who are working collaboratively to raise standards and expectations at all levels throughout the Academy. This is a fantastic opportunity for inspiring and aspirational individuals to join a supportive team who deliver a bespoke curriculum in a small group setting.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the education system and national curriculum; particular experience of working with learners with behavioural challenges and social and emotional needs is essential. This will encompass understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to deliver personalised learning programmes to learners. Experience of SEMH, especially within a school or academy setting is essential.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, and will lead on the delivery of the already established KS3 Thrive programme.

The environment in which the role operates will demand that the post holder has the initiative and confidence to make decisions and solve problems themselves, but is able to effectively judge when to make decisions, consult with others or their line manager.

Our guiding principle is to ‘expect excellence’ in everything that we do. Every student is encouraged to achieve their best in the pursuit of excellence. Thrive is a bespoke education provision which offers support to students where necessary, to ensure they meet the standards and expectations of the Academy consistently.  Our students understand our high expectations for behaviour and by offering this layer of support we aim to ensure that all students develop and leave as aspiring, motivated and confident young adults.

The Academy boasts outstanding facilities and a state-of-the-art learning environment.

The Alpha Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its employees and volunteers to share this commitment.  This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service along with other stringent vetting and induction processes.
