Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join our Business Improvement and Support Team. You will already have extensive experience of working within the public sector at a senior level and leading a customer focussed, diverse range of services. A key part of this role will require you to work with our internal customers in a designated area as the lead business partner; with responsibility for the coordination, planning and deployment of effective, flexible and responsive support services to meet business needs. You will use your extensive experience to lead a varied dedicated support service with a focus on continuous improvement and maintaining strong relationships with directorate leads as a single point of contact for support services.

Working as part of the directorate management team, you will have responsibility for specific activity such as performance management, business planning, change management, governance, complaints and risk, as well as leading and directing your team to flexibly meet the needs of the directorate. You will promote fluidity of communications as appropriate, delegate authority and responsibility, succession plan, ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures and develop workforce plans to ensure skills are developed to meet current and future predicted Council business support needs.

Your track record in project and change management will enable you to have a proactive and directional role in leading our programme of improvements within Business Support and also with our directorates; delivering changes in practice and delivery to offer relevant and efficient services.

This post will be supporting one our newly created directorates, City Operations or City Housing

In line with COVID-19 restrictions the role is currently being delivered from home. This is currently under review, but it is expected that we will continue to offer flexibility for home working with attendance at a Council Building only when necessary. This could be at any of the Council Administration Buildings within the City.
