Exciting new opportunities have arisen within one of the UK’s largest pension funds to support in the delivery of recent legislative scheme changes.

The West Midlands Pension Fund is one of the largest UK pension funds, ranking fourth in size across the Local Government Pension Scheme. Administered by City of Wolverhampton Council, it has a historic place within the region in supporting its partner councils across the West Midlands.

The Fund manages and administers the pension benefits of over 330,000 members across more than 700 employers – making data management a core function and central to its ability to provide a high quality service its customers, which is demonstrated through the achievement of Pension Administration Standards Association Accreditation, Customer Service Excellence and Investors In People Gold. 

New roles have been created to undertake the data management, processing and analysis of the rectification work required to implement the changes in legislation.

Key to the success of the roles will be individuals who are highly organised and flexible with excellent communication skills Some technical understanding of bulk data processing and data analysis will be beneficial.

The roles will predominately be working within a project team, focusing on the implementation of the project, and will support the Fund’s business as usual data management activities as required.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Processing of member data in bulk following receipt of electronic files from employers in large volumes ensuring the Fund meets set KPI’s.
  • Analysis and rectification of complex data with to ensure the Fund maintains a high standard of data quality.
  • To ensure the appropriate regulation is applied in the maintenance of data, processing of member benefits and to build and maintain up to date knowledge of pension legislation
  • Be the point of contact for an agreed set of employers, monitoring and reporting on outstanding data items and issues with performance to the Team Leader/Manager
  • Providing a comprehensive and responsive service to employers in regard to data queries and outstanding data
