Assistant Head Teacher

Responsible for whole school Teaching and Learning and behaviour with a 0.5 teaching commitment

Salary Scale: L5-L9

Start date: October 2021 (earlier if possible)

The children, governors and staff of our thriving, high achieving school, seek to appoint a dynamic, innovative and inspirational leader who is able to work alongside the Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and whole school community to ensure the continued success of our school. The post will be non-class based but there is an expectation of a weekly 0.5 teaching commitment: intervention groups and modelling/team teaching across school.

Main areas of responsibility are:

  • - Assisting the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher in managing and leading the school.
  • - Raising attainment and progress across the school.
  • - Identifying areas of improvement in teaching and learning across the school and developing action plans to support this.
  • - Modelling and team teaching with staff throughout school to ensure consistent high standards of teaching and learning are achieved.
  • - Supporting planning and assessment across the school to ensure teaching and learning targets all children’s needs.
  • - To take responsibility for raising achievement and progress, using data to identify children to target.
  • - Leading behaviour across the school to ensure that standards remain high and that the behaviour policy is adhered to at all times.
  • - To support the induction of newly qualified teachers, supply teachers, support staff, apprentice TAs and student teachers where necessary.
