This position is a two year fixed term contract to 31st July 2023

We are looking for an enthusiastic and empathetic individual to help deliver support to young people aged 14-19 years old who are transitioning from mainstream education.

The adviser will be responsible for providing an efficient, professional and beneficiary focused careers information advice and guidance service working flexibly in order to add value to our existing programmes and service delivery.

This role involves managing a challenging caseload of young people from diverse backgrounds and helping them to move into education, employment or training. This includes addressing complex needs, reducing barriers and identifying a range of interventions alongside delivering a high quality impartial information, advice and guidance service to help them to become work ready.

With highly developed communication and inter-personal skills, you will work closely with colleagues across the Council, education, agencies and with external partner organisations to identify, engage and support young people who are at risk of being not in education employment or training (NEET).

A qualification and background in CEIAG, education or equivalent is essential with a sound understanding of the key economic and social factors affecting young people.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Walsall Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children, young people and vulnerable adults entrusted to our care and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. We will ensure continuous development and improvement of robust recruitment processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce.
