Job Details

Dudley Educational Psychology Service is part of Family Solutions within Children's Services in Dudley. There is also a team of counsellors who are part of EPS.  The aims of the service are to apply educational psychology to promote the emotional health and well-being of the children and young people within Dudley Borough.  We are a lively and dedicated group of educational psychologists and range from the newly qualified to very experienced EPs and we also have trainee EPs and graduate psychologists.

The service continues to be core to Services in Dudley and has played a pivotal role in developing new systems for an integrated services approach, person-centred planning, the EHCP and the Local Offer. We are maintaining and developing our statutory and local authority role and, as a consequence, are extending our service to preschool children and to the 16-25 years age group.

Further, we have a very successful and dynamic traded section which serves schools and colleges across the borough. We offer a wide range of work from training, research and strategic work to individual assessments and therapeutic interventions.  Some schools buy back large amounts of EP time (e.g. ½ day per week or fortnight) and this offers EPs the opportunity to develop meaningful and innovative relationships with schools. Work with vulnerable children and young people is also commissioned through the traded arm of the service. Dudley EPS also has a number of exciting projects commissioned by Public Health, YOS, VRU, CAMHS, VS etc which enables EPs to engage in a wide range of work.

The service is committed to ensuring that EP practice is current and incorporates recent research and new developments. Hence there is a broad CPD programme that mirrors service aims.  Further we have an extensive training programme and this affords EPs opportunities to develop their expertise in relevant areas.

Full-time Post: Fully qualified educational psychologist

Salary: Soulbury A Spinal points 3-8 + 3 SPA

             £41,659.00- £51,029.00 (FT equivalent)

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced or newly qualified EPs.  Dudley Educational Psychology Service is a dynamic and expanding service and the team is committed, highly skilled and very supportive of each other.  There is a full range of opportunity for CPD.  EPs enjoy being part of Dudley EPS.

Dudley EPS continues to have a core statutory and local authority role, and the service has been pivotal in developing processes for the move to the EHCP. EPs will continue to be involved with children and young people with EHCPs at every stage including the pre-assessments and transition reviews.

The greater proportion of the work of Dudley EPS lies in traded work.   Schools and colleges continue to increase their buy-back and we have also attracted work from other LA services such as The Virtual School and Public Health.  Settings commission the full range of EP practice so there are opportunities for case work, strategic work and research projects.

The office is located at the Mere Education Centre, Stourbridge. Agile working allows EPs flexibility but the EP offices are frequented regularly ensuring access to peer supervision. Dudley is a small geographic borough and EP work across the area.

The closing date will be 30th June and interviews will be held on 6th July 2021
