Home School Link Worker

Level 5 Pts 7 - 12 (term-time only)

27.5 hours

 

We are looking to appoint an experienced Home School Link Worker to join the hard working and committed team at our happy academy.  The position is for 27.5 hrs, term time, starting in September 2021.

Applications are invited from highly committed, effective practitioners, with experience of managing a caseload of children and families with Child Protection, Child In Need and Early Help plans. Experience and knowledge of managing highly sensitive conversations with compassion and understanding, is essential.

Purpose of the position:

* To work as part of a team to safeguard the children in our care

* To support the work of school in raising the achievement and aspirations of vulnerable children and families in particular by:

* Enhancing links between school and parents/carers

* Providing support to individual children and families where social and emotional issues are proving to be barriers to the child’s educational progress.

 

Key duties and responsibilities

* Fulfil all safeguarding policies, processes and procedures relating to children and their families

* To support the academy to raise family awareness and aspirations.

* To support the development of effective communication and good working relationships between our academy, families and other support agencies in the community.

* To support our academy in the early identification of families needing support and take appropriate action including home visits. In addition, to support families with aspects of need such as benefits/housing/health etc.

* To work with other agencies and to contribute to the effective co-ordination of the support for individual children.

* To maintain an accurate record of the purpose, nature and outcome of all conversations, meetings and interventions with children and their families.

* To attend meetings, on behalf of the academy, with external agencies as required.

* To understand the need for confidentiality.

* To work with children identified as having difficulties in school, particularly by involving parents/carers in determining and participating in programmes of support with the academy.

* To be involved with the academy in identifying and devising programmes for groups of children with behavioural difficulties and work with them in group situations.
