37 Hours per week: term time only
Monday to Friday (8.15am – 4.45pm)
Start date: 1st September 2021
Fixed Term: 18 months

Apprentice:
Rate of Pay:  The current National Minimum Wage for an Apprentice is £4.30 an hour.  This rate applies to Apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. 


Apprentices will be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over AFTER completing their first year
The minimum wage rates are £6.56 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £8.36 an hour for 21-24 year olds and £8.91 for anyone aged 25 and over.  Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that is part of their Apprenticeship this includes 20% off job training.

Chuckery Primary School presents the opportunity to start a career working in a school. You will receive comprehensive training throughout the apprenticeship and ongoing support from the school. The successful candidate will be required to work towards an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. The provider we will be using is QA (www.QA.com)

The I.T Technician is an essential member of the Administrative team and contributes to the smooth running of the school, working flexible across a range of duties. The successful candidate will work towards fulfilling the school’s commitment to a high quality service and will promote the school’s welcoming and friendly ethos.

Working as an I.T Technician you’ll provide support to parents, pupils, teachers and other non-teaching staff. You’ll need excellent communication skills and good attention to detail to ensure your work is accurate. 

At the end of your apprenticeship you’ll achieve the nationally recognised qualification as well as valuable work experience that will provide you with the best chance possible of being offered a full-time role within a school or business.

Duties will include:

  • Carry out regular online safety talks to children
  • Weekly online safety advice to parents
  • Monitor the Smoothwall monitoring system acting on any alerts and reporting to our Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Follow up Online Safety incidents at the request of DSL
  • Provide exceptional ICT support to the School community
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of ICT across all teaching, learning and administration.
  • Maintaining the school's network
  • Installing new software and upgrading existing applications
  • Providing technical support for teachers and pupils
  • Maintaining and developing the school's website and intranet
  • Maintaining hardware peripherals (e.g. scanners, printers, external drives)
  • Liaising with suppliers on maintenance or licensing deals

Desired skills

  • GCSE Maths & English or equivalent (Grade C or above)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to meeting the needs of the pupils/carers. 
  • I.T knowledge would be an advantage.
