THE ROLE

As a Social Worker in our Disabled Children’s Service, we’ll look to you to safeguard and promote the welfare of the most vulnerable children and young people in the city through the delivery of high quality services. Responsible for a caseload of children and young people, you will ensure those services are delivered in accordance with best practice and that all legislative requirements are met.

Our Disabled Children Service is focused on excellence in supporting families; where the disabled child is the intended recipient of social care support or the family’s needs arise due to the child’s disability. We assess needs and identify resources as well as promoting and safeguarding Children in Need, Children on Protection Plans and Children in Care.

It will be your job to assess and plan for children in need of protection and children in care, involving multi agency partners according to need. You’ll implement, monitor and review children's plans to ensure their needs are being met. And you’ll ensure that meetings are proactive and timely, and that they accommodate the child or young person's needs, wishes and feelings.

We’ll expect you to actively promote a ‘joined-up’ approach to partnership working, both with service users as well as other teams, agencies and organisations. And, in addition to preparing and presenting reports to conferences, courts and panels, you’ll support the Team Manager by undertaking any other duties commensurate with the job or needs of the service.

If you have 3 years or more post qualifying experience & are  joining us from another authority; you will receive a recruitment incentive payment of £3,000 (subject to tax and national insurance deductions).

If you stay with one of our frontline teams for two years and remain with us; on your third year, you will receive a retention payment of £2,400, paid quarterly in your pay package.
