This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and successful in-house Corporate team. The team provides legal support in contracts, property and procurement and aims to support the Council with a proactive and solution-focused approach. The role involves providing complex legal and procedural advice to all areas of the council, including Members, Officers, external partners, and other stakeholders, you will advise on Public Contracts Regulations and the councils’ Standing Orders.
With a background in advising on large regeneration schemes, you will be well versed in public procurement and contract law, and are able to handle all major standard form construction contracts, particularly the JCT and NEC suites 3 and 4. With an in-depth knowledge of all relevant ancillary documents such as collateral warranties, you will be able to draft and amend documentation.
You will balance competing priorities as you help clients manage large projects and programmes of work, commercial contracts, procurement matters, construction and building contracts, public health contracts, IT contracts, framework agreements and concession contracts advising on the relevant negotiation strategies, you will constantly maintain an awareness of the corporate and commercial implications of your advice.
You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister preferably with relevant experience in relation to commercial contracts, procurement, and construction contracts within either a public and or private sector background. Key areas for this role include commercial contracts, procurement, construction contracts, public health contracts, IT contracts, frameworks, and concession contracts.
You will undertake technical and complex research which requires developed interpretation and analytical skills as well as partnership working with both colleagues and clients to deliver a solution on a range of contractual and procurement issues. You will be engaged in often complex and interesting work within an experienced, supportive team which develops and values its staff.
