The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an experienced project support officer to join our award winning Business Development Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support and help shape delivery of our service, and provide direct support to our two key business support programmes. The Relight Business Programme provides support to sole traders, micro and small businesses looking to build resilience and return to growth; whilst the AIM for GOLD Programme provides growth planning and grant support to larger businesses looking to expand and invest.

The post holder will have responsibility for:

  • Compiling information for the Wolverhampton Financial and Outputs for the AIM for GOLD ERDF claims, for checking by the Business Development Manager and Programme Manager
  • Ensuring the AIM for GOLD project documents and records are kept up to date including inputting, analysing and collating information; and ensuring all evidence is in place and certified where appropriate
  • Co-ordinating the delivery of the Wolverhampton Relight Business Programme ensuring completed Business Reviews and supporting documents are compliant; ensuring payment to delivery partners; and ensuring the project management spreadsheet is completed and up to date
  • Providing administrative support to our small team of Business Development Officers
  • Inputting to the Service CRM system

The Business Development Team is responsible for both direct delivery and for facilitating partner support to encourage business growth across the City. The Business Development Co-ordinator role is key to this delivery, to effective partner relationships, and to maintaining data and intelligence on those businesses we work with. The role would suit someone who is methodical, has attention to detail, is as comfortable working in a team as on their own initiative, and key attributes should include:

  • Experience of supporting project management
  • Experience of developing and implementing systems, procedures and supporting projects.
  • Understanding of project delivery
  • Experience of collating data.  
  • Excellent organisational skills (including the ability to prioritise workload)
  • Proven ability to achieve specific objectives and demonstrate high levels of attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to foster and maintain relationships within the organisation and with stakeholders
  • Proficient IT skills (intermediate/advanced)and use of packages e.g. excel, power point, word, outlook,
  • Ability to interpret detailed compliance guidelines
  • Experience of quality checking work

This post is offered on a fixed term contract until end March 2022 with an opportunity for it be extended to March 2023 subject to funding. This role is open to job share applicants and will at least initially be a home based role.
