The Highways Information Team record the extent of the Public Highway and any traffic schemes that affect that and report as necessary. The data is held in the Council’s GIS system (ARC View) and reporting for Land Charge Searches is done via Northgate’s M3.

We are looking for a new Team member to assist in data maintenance, answering search enquiries and telephone calls, helping with inspection of the records by members of the public and assisting with the investigation of highways extent disputes.

You must be a competent user of computer software including Microsoft Office, Geographical Information Systems and relational databases. You must be literate, able to read maps and plans and follow data entry conventions. You must be able to work accurately in a pressurised environment and have experience of communicating with customers in a polite, friendly, professional manner using telephone, in writing including emails and in person.

Interviews for this post will take place virtually via video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.

For informal enquiries contact Jules Kavanagh at Julie.kavanagh@birmingham.gov.uk

We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.

Right to work in the UK documentation will be fully checked for all applicants.  All non-UK applicants (excluding Ireland) may require a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council and must have an approved visa from the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) before any employment offer can be confirmed. Unless they are an EEA or Swiss citizen or their family members, already living in the UK by 31 December 2020, then they will need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) instead.
