West Midlands Fire Service is an ambitious and progressive organisation, always seeking to be at the forefront of best practice as an employer and a service provider. We are in the middle of a programme of change which reflects our ambition to be the most innovative fire service in the country and, to help us deliver this change, we have created an exciting new role in our People team.

As an experienced people leader, you will have the ambition, ability, skills and experience to deliver innovative best practice aligned to our dynamic needs. A member of the Strategic enabling Team, you will be highly driven, resilient and goal orientated, with a talent for inspiring and motivating teams to work in partnership to ensure the successful delivery of our strategic People priorities.

Drawing on significant experience in the development and delivery of people strategy, change and transformation and complex employee relations, you will influence, engage and enable delivery of innovative HR and OD solutions.  You will rapidly build strong relationships and credibility to lead a quality driven and responsive range of people services including recruitment, retention, employment policy, workforce information and planning, organisational development, employee relations, pay and reward and change management.

As part of transforming our services we are investing in digital approaches to create efficiencies and ‘smarter’ ways of working. We are currently embedding the Oracle system as our new digital platform to underpin our performance and delivery to our communities. You will need to be confident with maximising the use of technology to deliver the best people support services.

We are looking for a leader who is committed to embedding a diverse and inclusive culture and will work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders.

If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you. To express your interest in this exciting opportunity you should submit your curriculum vitae alongside a detailed personal statement, outlining your skills and experience in relation to the role as detailed in the job summary.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend for interview on 10th September and complete on-line assessments during August.
