The SEND Service oversees and co-ordinates the Council's responsibilities for SEND. This includes the casework management for over 4,000 children and young adults who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The work is very varied and members of the service deal with a wide range of people and organisations: parents and carers; schools, early education settings and colleges; health professionals such as therapists and paediatricians; social workers; family support workers.

This is a challenging role where you will deal with complex situations but with rewarding outcomes. You must have experience and an understanding of SEND.  Empathy is a must as you use your skills in building trust, tact and diplomacy to create effective working relationships. With an eye for detail you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interpreting data from a variety of professional reports and other sources you will be able to create written documents which are clear, concise and comply with legislation.

The work of the SEND Service is important because what we do, and how we do it, directly affects parents and carers, children and young people, and the settings and schools that provide their education.

You will join a friendly and supportive team who will help you to develop and build your career in SEND. If you have any job specific questions don’t hesitate to contact Lucy Hall (lhall3@worcschildrenfirst.org.uk) or Sarah Winwood (swinwood@worcschildrenfirst.org.uk)

Closing Date: 25th July 2021

Proposed Interview Date: Week Beginning 2nd August or 9th August 2021
