Warwickshire County Council are adding to their Flood Risk Management team and we have several positions within the team we are looking to fill.

About Us and the Role

Warwickshire County Council’s role as Lead Local Flood Authority is delivered by the Flood Risk Management team. Some of our key duties and responsibilities are to;

  • Provide advice to Local Planning Authorities on surface water drainage for all major development proposals,
  • Regulate activity on Ordinary Watercourses through the consenting of alteration works, and enforcement where likely to cause significant flooding,  
  • Support the emergency response to larger flood events by using knowledge of the local catchments and historic flooding, whilst recording and mapping flood reports,
  • Investigate significant flood reports in a prioritised way,
  • Work with communities to help them to understand the local risk and become more resilient to flooding,
  • Bid for funding to deliver flood alleviation schemes in the highest risk communities.

The post holder will work across the team and contribute to the delivery of the LLFA role as outlined in the Role Responsibilities, as well as taking a mentoring role to junior members of the team.

As a more experienced member of the team, the post holder will be given the opportunity to take ownership of the delivery of one or more of our team tasks, such as delivering technical input to planning consultations and shaping flood alleviation schemes within the county.

The Flood Risk Management Team sit within the Planning Delivery group in Environment Services. The group facilitates sustainable development across Warwickshire through regulatory and statutory activities. Other teams within the Planning Development group are;

  • Planning & Highways Development Management
  • Ecology, Historic Environment and Landscape
  • Archaeology Warwickshire
