Safeguarding Coordinator (Safeguarding)

12 Month Fixed Term

22.5 hours per week (3 days per week), 38 weeks per year

Salary £23,945- £26,566 FTE - pro rata to hours worked

12-month fixed term opportunity starting September 2021

Hereward College is a general further education college located in Coventry.  We offer inclusive provision with specialist facilities for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced safeguarding practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge base of safeguarding, safeguarding legislation and the prevent duty and be currently operating as a Deputy Safeguarding Lead or working alongside a Deputy Safeguarding Lead.  Experience of working with young people, with special educational needs and disabilities would be an advantage. 

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills who will be responsible for promoting good safeguarding practice. You will manage the Colleges safeguarding recording system and ensure it is effective and up to date.  You will have working knowledge of statutory agencies and the Local Authority thresholds for external referrals.  You will deliver safeguarding training to parents, students and staff as required.  You will have the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with learners and staff, liaising with cross college teams to promote and maintain a positive safeguarding culture.

A level 3 in Safeguarding or willingness to work towards this is required. Also Prevent experience together with Level 2 qualifications (GCSE Grade A – C) in English and Maths, or demonstration that you are operating at level 2 in both subjects is essential.
