£23,080 to £25,080 per annum

1 x permanent post - 37 hours

2 x fixed term contracts (until 31.03.23) - 37 hours 

Warwick District Council’s Housing Service provides a range of services including: managing the Housing Register and allocating homes to our own and Housing Association properties; homelessness services; as well as managing over 6,000 residential dwellings.

The Housing Options Officer is an important role to provide housing advice and assistance to people threatened with or experiencing homelessness. The Homelessness Reduction Act places new responsibilities upon Local Authorities and this role will be at the forefront of our efforts to prevent homelessness, by working with homeless people, support agencies and other statutory bodies.

The post holder will be required to make homeless decisions as per Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002. Therefore an understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework is important. The ability to interview applicants, investigate cases and make decisions are essential skills. Excellent communication skills both in person and in writing are required as well as the ability to engage with people in difficult circumstances.
