Youth Centre Manager (Scale 5 - £14,988 - £16,549 per annum for 25 hours per week)

Required from September 2021 – offered as a 7 month contract in the first instance

We are seeking a part-time (25 hours per week) Youth Centre Manager to work throughout the year, with holidays to be negotiated. The school has been working with Worcestershire County Council for a number of years to reopen Bewdley Youth Centre, and has now secured a 25-year lease running from 2021 to 2046. As such we wish to reopen the centre for the children of Bewdley in September, have secured external funding to support this post for the 7 months to the end of the financial year (31/3/2022). There may also be the possibility of combining this with a 10 hour lunchtime supervision contract at the school, creating a full-time 35 hours per week contract during term-time, reverting to 25 hours during school holidays. Funding will continue to sought to make this a long-term viable and permanent role.

Given the substantial negative impact of the pandemic and its restrictions on the mental health of young people, there is an urgent need to re-establish youth provision in the town, to offer opportunities for social interaction and active participation. The successful candidate will, ideally, have youth work experience and relevant qualifications. The role will involve managing the weekday evening running of the centre including management of volunteers and the centres resources. The key purpose is the delivery and development of a wide programme of diverse activities and projects for the young people of Bewdley, in partnership with Bewdley Youth Forum.
