We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Governance Team as a Solicitor/Legal Executive. The team deals with a wide variety of work and this opportunity will be ideal for someone who is willing to work hard, expand their knowledge and commit to improving the service that this team provides.

You will be required to work in a team with fee earners, team leaders, case workers and business support officers undertaking a wide range of work including providing guidance and supervision to more junior members of the team and being pivotal in the council’s compliance with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

It is an essential criteria of the role to be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister and be Authorised to Practice.

You will ideally have practical experience of working within the area of Data Protection and Information Governance.  Experience in Civil Litigation and/or Contract Law would also be beneficial but not essential. The ability to learn quickly, take on new areas of work and having a high level of case management and client care experience is essential.

In the heart of the midlands and 10 minutes train ride from the centre of Birmingham, Sandwell is a rapidly expanding, vibrant and diverse place to live, work and play. How better to contribute to our vision than through a unique and rewarding career with Sandwell? So, if you’re looking for an excellent benefits package and the chance to make a difference, this is the role for you.

Use your skills to benefit the local community and experience a rewarding, interesting environment and attractive employment package such as:

  • Local Government Pension Scheme, considered to be one of the best employer contribution rates
  • A generous minimum holiday entitlement of 26 days per year in addition to statutory and public holidays, rising to 31 days after 5 years’ service
  • Option to buy more annual leave
  • A full range of family friendly policies including enhanced Maternity, Adoption, Paternity entitlements and flexible working.
  • 1,000’s of discounts and savings at 100’s of retailers, online and on the high street, available through our employee benefits scheme
  • Excellent in-house learning and development opportunities
  • Fair pay and a commitment to a minimum Living Wage
