An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy Resourcing Team. You will be involved in all aspects of the recruitment and selection process, whilst supporting candidates and managers by delivering great customer service!

Your role as an apprentice

You’ll be part of Sandwell Council’s highly supportive and skilled Resourcing team, involved in all aspects of the recruitment journey. We help managers to find the right people for their vacancies and support candidates by delivering great customer service.

You’ll gain experience across the whole recruitment and onboarding journey by supporting both the hiring manager and candidate whilst following legislative and council guidelines. Your duties will include advertising via our applicant tracking system, preparing application forms for hiring managers ready for shortlisting, interview co-ordination, processing offer letters, contracts and meeting with new starters to complete pre-employment clearances. We’ll also get you involved in specific project work too.

You will be required to communicate effectively with managers and candidates to deal with queries by telephone or by written correspondence. Maintaining accurate records and recruitment data is essential and you will need to keep the applicant tracking system and trackers up to date whilst working with spreadsheets daily. 

You will be accountable for the quality of your work and take responsibility for maintaining and improving your knowledge and skills, this includes undertaking appropriate training as identified relevant to the role. 

As part of your role you’ll be supported through a Level 3 Business Administration qualification and we’ll make sure the work and tasks you’re involved in will fully support your studies.

You must already possess Maths and English Language at GCSE grade C / grade 4 or above, or the Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent.

You must already be close to achieving / have already achieved, a Level 2 Business Administration or Customer Service Practitioner Qualification

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is a fixed term 18 month contract.  However, the skills, knowledge and experience gained in this apprenticeship will allow you to gain future opportunities in the sector.
