We are looking for a Benefits Officer to work as part of a team assessing Local Council Tax Support and Housing Benefit claims from both the public and private sector. You will also need to promote and provide additional support to customers where financial difficulties are demonstrated and cannot easily be resolved. You must have experience of working with the general public and have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals of all levels to explain decisions clearly. Ideally you would have an up to date knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and the NWBC Local Council Tax Support scheme.

Appointment to this post will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service, before the appointment is confirmed.  A Basic check will be required. This will contain details of convictions and conditional cautions considered to be ‘unspent’ under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Greg Osbourne, Benefits Shared Service Manager on email

The closing date for the receipt of applications is Tuesday 3 August 2021.
