Arts & Events Officer

 

£27,741 - £32,234 per annum

An opportunity has arisen to lead our Arts & Events Team, leading on a busy arts and events programme. Whilst this role is based within a wider team it has budget responsibility and line manages two permanent full time Arts & Events Coordinator, and a number of casuals over various events.

The Arts & Events Team are responsible for developing and delivering the business plan and arts & events strategy, in consultation with the Theatre, Artistic & Events Manager, including developing and managing workshops/events/projects that support arts and community development. You will be the face of outdoor events and arts development and seek new opportunities as well as forward planning and executing the town’s existing arts and events programme, including St. Georges Day, Outdoor Theatre Season, Outdoor Cinema, Christmas Lights, Fireworks, Bandstand Concerts. You will need to deliver projects from concept to planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation.

You will be a people person, able to communicate with community groups such as our own Tamworth Voices Choir, and work collaboratively with stakeholders and customers to programme and manage the Councils outdoor events programme and arts development programme. You will be able to follow existing policy and procedures to facilitate its delivery.

You will have a business head combined with community and educational outreach experience to co-ordinate and oversee the bookings and usage of the Castle Grounds, and St. Editha’s Square and other public space for the purpose of Events.

You will have the opportunity to produce events in some of Tamworth’s finest cultural assets such as Tamworth Castle Grounds, Tamworth Castle, Town Hall, and Tamworth Assembly Rooms. After a major refurbishment the Assembly Rooms is re-opening with new café’s and bars and vision to become a major regional arts venue. The opportunity exists to implement major new arts development programmes utilising the venue’s modern technology and spill out rooms. To achieve this you will work collaboratively alongside the Theatre Manager, Technical Officer, Catering Officer and Meeting & Sales Coordinator.

The Arts & Events Officer sits within the steering group for arts & events for the Tamworth area, and reports to the Theatre, Artistic & Events Manager.
