Staffordshire is part of Together4Children Permanency Partnership (T4C), and the T4C Staffordshire Locality Hub - Adoption Assessment and Support is committed to delivering quality training, assessments, support and interventions to prospective adopters, children, and their families.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic social worker with a thorough understanding of attachment, separation, trauma and child development to join Staffordshire’s Locality Hub as we seek to continue to respond creatively to developments in the field of Adoption and Permanence.

We’re looking for a child focused qualified social worker, skilled in undertaking timely, evidence-based assessments and able to give high-quality support to those hoping to adopt.  You’ll also be determined and persistent in your family finding activities for children and those hoping to adopt.  We also expect that you’ll be able to provide support and advice on adoption matters as required on duty and you’ll be involved in the preparation and delivery of training for those hoping to adopt, foster carers and colleagues on a range of areas relating to adoption and permanence.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be joining an experienced, stable team that values teamwork and enjoys keeping in touch and sharing ideas and best practice. We’d like you to bring to this role:

- A good understanding of relevant legislation, policy and statutory guidance in respect of children’s welfare and safeguarding,

- Skills in direct work with children and adults,

- The ability to work in partnership with regional partners and other agencies across the country

- You must also have a social work qualification, along with being registered with Social Work England.

The Locality Hub- Adoption Assessment and Support provides a county wide service but workers travel across the country as necessary. Therefore, if successful you’d need to be able to work flexibly, including the occasional evenings and weekends on a planned basis.

Our offer to you

With a strong desire to expand your learning, this is an excellent opportunity to learn, develop and progress.  We are particularly interested in considering applicants who have had experience of working in safeguarding or teams that undertake assessments and interventions.

Staffordshire County Council has one of the largest Children’s Services in England and as a consequence there are excellent career opportunities for highly motivated and experienced staff to join a ‘Good’ Children’s Service.

Staff are provided with high quality regular supervision, a second to none training offer which equips staff to have the tools to do their job confidentially and competently alongside excellent line management support
