About Us

The Home Environment Assessment and Response Team (HEART) is a formal partnership across five local authorities and the county council. Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is proud to be the hosting authority for this service which brings together the provision of housing adaptations, improvements and minor adaptations for ourselves and partner authorities.

HEART is a service comprising of Occupational Therapists and Housing Assessment Officers who complete assessments with Warwickshire residents in their own homes.

They offer solutions including provision of equipment, minor adaptations and applications for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) for major adaptations.

HEART is committed to continue to improve the services provided to customers and focuses on delivering the right solution at the right time. HEARTs overall aim is to ensure that people can maintain an independent life and ensure their home environment is adapted appropriately and is safe and warm.

We are now recruiting for a part time Occupational Therapist to join HEART (seconded to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council as hosts).

The post will be based in the north of the county and will be minimum 16 hours per week.

Joining our established North HEART team,  You will be responsible for a caseload, completing assessments (remote and face to face) and working with customers to plan and deliver the support they need to remain at home safely and independently.

You will be working with a team of Occupational Therapists, Housing Assessment Officers and Technical Officers as well as partner services and agencies.

You’ll take part in formal and informal supervision and team meetings. In addition, you will be expected to provide support to the wider team as necessary.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have DIPCOT or the BSc Occupational Therapy qualification and have an understanding of the Occupational Therapy Core Skills, particularly in housing related work. As you’ll be managing relationships with a variety of people, it’s important you have strong communication skills, can creatively solve problems and plan your own workload, often working under pressure.

With the ability to work within a team as well as on your own initiative, you’ll have experience of dealing with and maintaining confidential information and an understanding of equality and diversity ensuring all people are treated fairly and with respect.

In addition you’ll be able to travel around the county effectively and can demonstrate your commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. It’s advantageous if you have experience of working in housing related services.
