Job Description

Job Title:                     ICT Technician

 

Salary:                         £18,000 to £23,000 (depending on experience)

 

Responsible to:          Assistant Principal

Relationships:            Internal: Principal, SLT, teaching and non-teaching staff

External: Governors, Sponsors and Employer partners, LA and council representatives, other UTC’s, Schools, Colleges and Universities, Parents, Suppliers of goods and services and visitors to the UTC

 

 

 

Main Purpose of Job:  The post holder will work as part of a small team managed by the Assistant Principal to provide a number of services for students to enable them to make the most of their time at the UTC. 

Also implement policies and procedures pertaining to the job.

Assist in the provision of specialist ICT support to all staff and students, including the preparation and routine maintenance of resources and equipment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide support to staff and students on all ICT matters
  • Problem finding and resolving across multiple network systems, platforms and hardware
  • Implement and support for the ICT network infrastructure
  • Configure, support and maintain of Windows Servers and OS
  • Knowledge and configuration of VMware.
  • Creation, deletion and organisation of user accounts
  • Installing and configuring hardware and software
  • Configure and support staff with use of mobile devices such as Ipads, tablets etc
  • Audit hardware and software and keep information up to date on inventory system
  • Ordering and stock control on IT consumables
  • Ensure cleanliness of all ICT equipment around school especially student use areas such as computer suites
  • Creation, organisation and maintenance of backup systems
  • To manage active directory, group policy, DHCP and DNS
  • To maintain office 365 administration
  • Continually develop relevant knowledge and skills as part of CPD program
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

  • To carry out any other duties as reasonably required by the Principal that are commensurate with grade and nature of the post

Conditions

  • Full time working 36.5 hours per week
  • Usual daily working hours to be agreed
  • 60 mins unpaid break each day to be taken at times to be agreed
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays per annum

The postholder will have responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons s/he comes into contact with.
