Ready for the greatest challenge of your career?

Here in Solihull, we have schools and academies with a national reputation for quality and achievement and some of the best examination results in the country. Some authorities might settle for that, but not us. We’re determined to take what’s good and make it great – because children and young people in Solihull deserve the very best.

You’ll be instrumental in this as you help shape what our services will look like for the future. You’ll come to us at a time of exciting change. We’ve already created a new specialist team in our 0-25 SEND Service, with everything in place to deliver consistently excellent services and developed refined practices, strong support and fantastic scope for professional development. You’ll play your part in driving new models of service delivery in line with funding and education reforms.

This high profile leadership role will see you providing strategic and operational leadership to the Learning and Skills division of the Children’s Services Directorate. You’ll manage the relationship between the Council and its schools, providing professional challenge, support and intervention in the Borough’s schools, academies, SEND and early years settings. Innovative in your approach, you’ll be responsible for reducing unemployment and enhancing skills within Solihull by leading on our employment and skills strategy.

Managing multi-million pound budgets and high profile projects will not faze you. Neither will leading and delivering people-related change. You’ll bring extensive and impressive experience of all these things in a senior corporate role in the education sector. This means you’ll be skilled in forging partnerships with other authorities as well as government, private and voluntary organisations. A dynamic leader, able to thrive in a political environment, you will have a flair for motivating colleagues and partners to deliver great outcomes for children and young people. Because, above all, you’ll be passionate about supporting children, young people and young adults.

Take this great career challenge, and you’ll enjoy life in a thriving borough that combines the very best of town and country living and has been recognised for its exceptional quality of life.

Solihull Local Authority has a responsibility for, and is committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS + Barred List check will be required for these posts.
