Our aim
In Staffordshire we want residents to live their lives to their full potential and this includes people who are living with a disability. We want people with disabilities to be independent and equal in society and have choice and control in their own lives. We want people to have dignity and self-respect, and for those with more complex needs to have the support they need to maintain this.
Our role
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the county’s high performing and citizen-focused Adult Learning Disability Team (ALDT) which is part of the Health and Care Directorate at Staffordshire County Council
Following investment and a successful and positive restructure of Staffordshire’s Social Care Offer to its citizens, we’ve created 10 additional qualified Social Work posts within the team. These posts will support the Adult Social Care Service to deliver the statutory care and support offer that the council provides to adults with learning disabilities to achieve their personal outcomes and goals in life.
You’ll be an integral part of the ‘Assessment and Care Management’ teams in the county making a positive difference to the adults and families we support. These teams support adults and young people with a learning disability and autism who require support from adult social care and with eligible social care needs as defined by the Care Act 2014.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be a qualified social worker motivated by the purpose of your role – to help and support others. A real team player you’ll be able to flex to the needs of the team and as a senior social worker you’ll help mentor and coach other colleagues. You’ll have a proven track record of a person centered and asset focused outlook and you’ll have high professional standards.
You’ll also need:
- Sound knowledge and experience of current legislation and its application to practice in a social care setting.
- An applied knowledge of The Care Act and The Mental Capacity Act
- Experience of undertaking safeguarding enquiries is essential
- Experience of working in complex situations using professional judgement and a range of interventions.
You’ll also be able to communicate in a clear, jargon-free way and in a calm and professional manner.
What will you get from us?
In return for your skills, enthusiasm and commitment we will support you to take your career to the next level within an exciting, progressive, imaginative and diverse service.
We offer a competitive salary, opportunity for progression, excellent training including a thorough induction, linked to your role and professional development plans.
You will receive professional supervision and be working in a team of high performing, dedicated and most importantly - friendly colleagues.
