Job Details

Our recently formed Building Safety team, led by the Building safety Manager, is fundamental to ensuring Wolverhampton Homes complies with all relevant fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire Safety Act 2021.

The Fire Safety Compliance Officers will work with the Building Safety Manager to identify, assess and effectively control the fire safety risks across the social housing portfolio, through the delivery and management of the Fire Risk Assessment process.

The successful candidates will also be expected to lead on fire safety initiatives, engaging with residents and a range of internal and external stakeholders, to ensure fire safety improvements are delivered.

Job Purpose and Role: To ensure that Wolverhampton Homes is complying with all applicable fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and striving to achieve best practice guidance as produced by appropriate regulatory and advisory organisations. To proactively support the Building Safety Manager by integrating the identification, assessment and control of fire safety risks into our operational management activity, ensuring all significant risks are adequately recorded and managed as part of the Fire Risk Assessment process, in line with the objectives of the Fire Risk Management Strategy. To develop and monitor programmes of work to manage the significant findings and actions by prioritising risks and delivering the remedial activity in a timely manner, reporting to the Responsible Person periodically with achievable programmes of work and updates on the status of the building stock in line with the compliance framework. To develop and maintain positive working relationships internally by liaising with relevant teams and key stakeholders, through the implementation and adoption of a formal system for the management of fire safety. To plan, implement, monitor and review the effectiveness of the fire safety improvement programme. To engage with residents by responding to enquiries, complaints and requests in a timely manner. To lead on fire safety initiatives, engaging with colleagues from across the business, to reduce the risk of fire within the housing portfolio.
