About Heritage and Culture Warwickshire

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire (HCW) provide a wide range of services that help local communities and visitors to engage with their local heritage. We safeguard Warwickshire’s museum collections and archives and provide high quality arts and cultural opportunities and lifelong learning for everyone in the County and beyond.

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire has several sites based in and around Warwick, Market Hall Museum, St John’s House, Warwickshire County Record Office and a Collections Centre for the museum collections. The Heritage and Culture team includes Local Studies Librarians who are based in the county’s libraries and work closely with colleagues from Warwickshire Library Service. We are a countywide service and work strategically with partners from within and outside Warwickshire County Council to offer services to local communities and support, and develop, the heritage and cultural infrastructure of the county.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced person to support our Curators of Human History and Natural Sciences for a twelve-month period of maternity cover in a range of tasks involving our archaeology, geology, social history and natural history collections. These will primarily include assistance with day-to-day collections documentation, digitisation and collections care, supervising collections volunteers, and assisting with recovery from a major collections move.

Having a minimum of two years relevant experience, you will be trained in collections-based museum work and collections documentation and will be able to use your own initiative and work effectively as a team member. Excellent literacy and digital are essential, as well as demonstrating attention to detail. We are also looking for someone who can work at different sites across the county.
