Job Details

We're looking for a Management Information Analyst to join us on a fixed term basis until March 2022. The role becomes part of a newly formed team, collecting, manipulating, interpreting and assessing different forms of performance information and providing easy-to-understand comprehensive information analysis to the Corporate Management Team, Strategic Leaders and to the Mayor that supports decision making. The role will help build positive relationships with internal customers and stakeholders to develop a better understanding of what is being delivered across the region, what is working well and identifying what the impact is to the residents of the West Midlands.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide easy-to-understand, meaningful reports to support the performance management and high-level decision making
  • Generate reports from management information sources and provide subsequent analysis to allow full and accurate monitoring and reporting
  • Develop and maintain monitoring systems to track programme and project performance and progress
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the business, engaging with cross-functional teams and building effective relationships 
  • Provide a strategic overview of all programmes and management information (corporate dashboard information) reporting anomalies or areas of concern and challenge any discrepancies with Accountable Leads
  • Work with the Office for Data Analytics to ensure the provision of regional data to support performance assessments and reporting against WMCA’s strategic objectives
  • Develop, manage and maintain any be-spoke data systems required, and not provided by IT, to capture and analyse performance and investment portfolio data
  • Own actions log for Programme Continuous Improvement Reviews, Internal Audit Recommendations and Assurance Recommendations, highlight when deadlines for these have slipped and address with action owners

About you

We're looking for someone with extensive knowledge and experience of management information tools, systems and methodologies together with experience of presenting complex management information in easy to follow and understand formats. We're looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of using packages such as SharePoint, data cubes, dashboard tools as well as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint to build and present complex reports in a user-friendly format
  • Knowledge and understanding of regional data sets related to economic and social conditions
  • Proven experience in two or more of the following: performance management, programme/project management, continuous improvement, business process change, risk management, governance or internal audit
  • Ability to communicate and support and influence across all levels of the organisation
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining performance
  • Self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision
  • Exhibit a high degree of pro-activity and creative thinking

Our Finance & Business Hub provides essential high-quality, responsive, and agile enabling services to the West Midlands Combined Authority and its directorates in areas such as human resources, procurement, commercial investments, assurance and appraisal, financial control and administration, and financial and business planning and performance reporting.
